Ramakrishna Mission Residential College is an autonomous college located in Narendrapur, Kolkata. The college was established in 1960 and affiliated to the University of Calcutta. It is run by the Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama, Narendrapur.[1] The college is residential and only boys are allowed to study in this institution.[2]

Academics

The college has eight departments which offer Physics, Statistics, Chemistry, Mathematics, English, Computer Science, History and Economics as graduate major (honors) degrees. Courses in Bengali, Political Science, Philosophy and Indian Culture are also taught as minor or additional subjects. Recently from 2005-06, post graduate courses in Physics and Chemistry and from 2009-10 English have started.

Research facility

There is a research and development facility available in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Computer Science.[2]

Campus life

The campus of the college and ashram occupies a full of lush greenery area of 150 acres (0.61 km2).[2] The college provides several facilities for its students, such as hostels, library, multigym ,games & sports and medical. At present, there are three hostels namely Brahmananda Bhavana, Gouranga Bhavana and Ramkrishnananda Bhavana under the supervision of the college. Among these three,GB(Gouranga Bhavana) is the most convenient and the best one for the students. The college also provides a well-stocked library with nearly 59,997 books and 49 journals.[3]
